Kamehameha Schools Ho‘omāka‘ika‘i

The Ho‘omāka‘ika‘i program is focused on connecting keiki with ‘āina and ‘ike kūpuna to set the foundation for embracing their Hawaiian identity. Throughout the week, students engage in hands-on cultural learning activities with our staff and community partners. Students were able to come to Wailua River to learn about and practice paddling and develop a stronger connection to culture and place.

HIDOE School Visits

Canoes were brought into schools throughout Kaua’i. Students interact with the waʻa, meet crew and cultural practitioners, engage in hands-on learning, and build pilina with the voyaging traditions of our ancestors.
